“Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world’s eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you. Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And He chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.”
1 Corinthians 1:26-27 NLT
As believers, we sometimes have the notion that we must be powerful and influential (according to worldly standards) to do great things for God. However, Apostle Paul, in our anchor scripture, proves us wrong. God uses simple people with His simple message to do powerful things.
According to worldly standards, there was nothing peculiar about Jesus when He showed up on the scene (Luke 2:7, Matthew 13:54-57). He wasn’t rich; He was the supposed son of a carpenter yet the fate of human salvation from sin laid on His shoulders.
Through Him, God showed exceedingly great power. It takes great power to bring a man to life and keep him alive forever, and God demonstrated this power through Jesus and all who believe in Him. (Ephesians 1:20, John 3:16)
Do you know that that power is also at work in us who believe (Ephesians 1:19)?
Mark 16:17-18 (NKJV) says:
“And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
That’s you! You might not meet up with the worldly standards of success right now, but if you have Jesus, you have more than enough. You may seem ordinary but you’ve got power!
SAY THIS:
I may seem ordinary but I have got power! I acknowledge this as the truth of God’s word to me and I walk in the knowledge of it.
