Do you know that the Earth is the only planet at a comfortable distance from the sun? Any closer would be too hot, any farther would be too cold.
Amazing, right? Scientists also tell us that the Earth is the only planet tailored to support life. It has the right size to form the right atmospheric conditions that can support living organisms.
If some features on our planet were only slightly different, the earth would no longer be able to support plant or animal life. These features of the earth, coupled with the order and harmony of the universe, are too precise to be the result of some random, cosmic accident. Rather, these intelligent designs point us to the fact that there is an intelligent designer—a creator, God.
Science does more to uncover the beauty and intelligence of God’s creation than to disprove the existence of God. Evolution as we know it mostly explores variations in already existing life forms but doesn’t answer the question of how they came to be.
Rather than instances of organisms changing from one class to another, we are told of variations within the same class. A common example is that of a bird that once had a straight beak, but now has a bent beak. The bird shows no permanent change in its class (it remains a bird), no increase in complexity (it has the same capabilities as before) and no appearance of new body parts (it has the same beak). These illustrations best describe adaptation, not evolution.
The Bible is the only document that gives us a detailed record of how the world came to be (Genesis 1-2). More so, the Bible informs us that God not only created the world, but He also sustains it. The writer of Hebrews records that, “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.” Hebrew 1:3a (NIV)
The Earth did not come to be because of a galactic accident that led to the evolution of substances. The earth and the intelligence of its design provide us with sufficient and undeniable evidence that there is a creator. Apostle Paul puts it this way:
“Ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So, they have no excuse for not knowing God.” Romans 1:20 (NLT)
Listen, the world we see around us testifies of the existence of God who created and sustains it. All praise and glory be to His name forever.
