PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

“Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession.” Psalm 2:8 NKJV

Have you ever wondered what is on God’s mind for the nations and peoples of the earth? From our anchor verse, we see God asking us to make a request of Him for the nations. This shows that we have a part to play in the affairs of tendering the hearts of the nations to God.

Salvation is God’s solution to the world’s singular cause of all its troubles – sin.  God’s desire is as clear today as it is in the scriptures. His desire is to have all men saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:3-4).

Praying for the salvation of souls in all nations is very important, as there are groups of people that barely know about the gospel or are still extremely hostile to the gospel.

We ask for the nations because the nations have been promised to us. Scripture prophesies again and again of the prevalence of the gospel on the earth.

“For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, As the waters cover the sea.” (Habbakuk 2:14 NKJV). The same prophecy is repeated in Isaiah 11:9. In the place of prayer, we can enforce the will of God on the earth.

In Matthew 28:19, when Jesus gave the mandate to the disciples – and by extension all believers, He commanded us to go to all the nations of the world. So no place or city on earth can be excluded from your prayer list! They all need the gospel.

We have seen missionaries take the gospel to various countries and have to endure severe hardship, just so the gospel can reach different people groups.

As we pray for the harvest of souls, we should also pray for the forceful release of labourers into the harvest (Matthew 9:37). When we do this, we play a major part in ensuring that more nations are reached with the gospel’s message.

It is the will of God to have all men be saved. This means all nations need to hear the gospel. This is why we must pray for the nations. We pray that every tribe, village, city, state, country, sub region, and continent will hear the gospel.

Dear believer, it is your responsibility to pray for the nations of the earth. Never think that you do not have a role to play in God’s mandate for the nations of the earth. So commit to praying for the gospel to prevail in all the nations of the world and in the same vein, go into all the nations of the world and preach the gospel!

PRAYER: We open the doors of nations to the gospel. We pray that laws passed in nations are beneficial to the spread of the gospel. We pray that world leaders are filled with wisdom to make decisions that are in accordance with God’s will. We pray for the eradication of injustices, wars, economic hardship, and pandemics. In Jesus’ name, we pray for peace in all the nations of the world, amen.
