“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you.“ Isaiah 26:3 NLT
When a child is alone in a dark room, it can be one of their worst nightmares. However, it’s the complete opposite when their parents are in that same room with them. The child will feel more relaxed and at peace. They trust that the presence of their parents will keep them safe from any mysterious harm.
This kind of peace ought to be seen in the life of every believer despite their situations. We have an example in Jesus when He slept in the middle of a great storm that terrified others on the boat with Him (Matthew 8:23-26). The peace Jesus had was not gotten from His surroundings but from an inner mechanism.
Your peace of mind cannot be based on trivial things or circumstances but on a stronger conviction that even in the midst of it, things are working out for your good (Romans 8:28). Your perspective amid challenges should be that God is with you because you are now reconciled with Him via the sacrifice of Jesus (Romans 5:1).
To know and put your faith in Jesus is to know peace. If you’re in Christ, peace becomes an atmosphere that you carry from within.
The announcement of the birth of Jesus in Luke 2:14 was also an announcement of peace on the earth. Peace has been redefined with Christ, it is a position of favour with God. It is now a disposition of your spirit man, because the Word says so (Galatians 5:22).
When you encounter difficult seasons, pray about it. God responds to our weary hearts with His peace (Philippians 4:6-7). Also, look into the word and stir up this disposition of peace in you. When you see things from God’s perspective, it makes even the great challenges in your life small. If the God of the universe is at peace with you, then who can be against you? (Romans 8:31).
Dear believer, knowing Jesus and putting your faith in Him will help you live in peace always. God wants you to have an unshakeable assurance that you are on the winning side. The complexities of your present can never intimidate His plans for your future. You can trust Him with your life.
