GOD’S DESIRE

“For such [praying] is good and right, and [it is] pleasing and acceptable to God our Savior, Who wishes all men to be saved and [increasingly] to perceive and recognize and discern and know precisely and correctly the [divine] Truth.”
1 Timothy 2:3-4 AMPC

Have you ever tried to surprise a friend with a thoughtful gift? You are more likely to have considered the person’s likes, interests or wants at that time so as to make an informed decision. With God, the most thoughtful gift is not a hard nut to crack.

The Bible clearly tells us that the paramount thing to God is the repentance of His creation from their evil ways and acceptance of His love and sacrifice evidenced on the cross. This message of salvation is for all men irrespective of age, color or nationality.

“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world…” -Titus 2:11-12 NKJV

Undoubtedly, the salvation of souls is at the core of God’s heart. (Acts 4:12) His utmost desire is for people all over the world to be saved. He already made the provision for salvation ahead of their reception. Our gift to Him is to ensure that they hear about His gift, and accept it.

In our anchor text, we see a further emphasis on the right knowledge of the truth. This supposes that salvation must go hand in hand with progressive knowledge of the truth of God’s word. Apostle Paul corroborates this in Hebrews 5:11-14.

Armed with this information, what are we to do?
Going forward, we must endeavor to spread the message of salvation to all men. On account of our preaching, giving, and living, souls must be saved. This should lead us to pray, give towards the spread of the Gospel, and actively, unashamedly evangelize to others. (Romans 1:16)

Additionally, we must study God’s word and teach it accurately to others. (1 Peter 3:15) This is further heightened by attending a good local church where the integrity of God’s word is preserved and prioritized.

Folks, God’s desire is that salvation becomes the general inheritance for all and sundry- no discrimination. The execution of His desire requires urgency. As recipients of His saving grace, share this gift with others.
