WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL RECAP

“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”  – Romans 8:15 NKJV‬‬

Welcome to the 14th Weekly Devotional Recap of the Year. This week, we discovered the indwelling resurrection Spirit, which signifies our forgiveness and adoption by God. Additionally, we were encouraged to rejoice in our salvation.

On Monday, we were charged to rejoice and proclaim what a great gift we have received in salvation (Isaiah 12: 3). To understand that salvation is worth celebrating truly, we must first acknowledge the weight of our sins which God has forgiven(Colossians 2: 13). We ought to understand that we were headed for eternal damnation before God saved and adopted us. Now, we are a part of His family and can call him father (Romans 8: 14-15).

Tuesday’s devotional emphasised the indispensable role of the Holy Spirit in our Christian journey. Without His guidance, our efforts are in vain (John 16:8).  The Holy Spirit plays a pivotal role in our Christian life, especially in salvation. Through His conviction, He reveals our need for a saviour.  The Holy Spirit empowers us believers for the ministry of reconciliation. His gifts enhance our effectiveness in spreading the Gospel, as seen in Peter’s example (Acts 2:14-41).

Wednesday’s article reminded us that God gave us His Spirit at salvation as a seal to identify us as His children. Although we all come from different earthly families, tribes and races, we are all one family because we believe  in Jesus Christ and have been adopted into God’s family (Galatians 3:28).  By adoption, we are now joint heirs with Christ (Romans 8: 17), and now, we can approach God confidently as our father.

On Thursday we learnt that the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead, the very agent of resurrection, lives in and is at work in us. This assures us that we will also be raised from the dead when He returns  (1 Corinthians 6:14).  Our hope of eternal life is anchored on this fact and death is no longer a tragedy to us (Romans 6:9). Through Jesus and His Spirit, we have conquered death forever.

We concluded the week on Friday by discussing the assurance of our salvation. God has given us His Spirit as a guarantee of the promised inheritance (Ephesians 1:14), silencing doubts about our salvation. This confirms our belonging to Him forever (1 John 4:23). Trust in the Holy Spirit and rejoice in the certainty of your salvation in Christ Jesus!

Dear Believer,  the resurrection Spirit resides in us. This same spirit that rose Christ from the dead serves as proof that we are children of the one true God. Let us embrace the Holy Spirit’s work within us, empowering us to spread the message of Christ throughout the world.

Have a great Weekend!
