WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL RECAP

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.”
Psalms 28:7 NIV

Welcome to the 51st week of our devotional recap, where we remind ourselves of all we learnt during the week. This week, we learnt to have a heart check on our spiritual walk, the importance of fellowship in the church and to put Christ first. We then proceeded to learn that God’s grace is sufficient.

On Monday, we kicked off the week reminding ourselves to check our heart status. Just like organizations evaluate and appraise their employees after a period, we also are to examine our spiritual work.
From Paul’s words to the church in Colossae in Colossians 1:4, one sure way to assess our faith in God is our attitude to spiritual devotion and our love for the saint. An honest appraisal would give you a good picture of our heart status. What is your heart status today?

On Tuesday, we saw that the word of God is the lens through which we know who we are and see ourselves as God sees us (James 1:23-24).
Therefore, as you reflect on the year, how much of a doer of the word were you? Did you do the word? – knowing Christ and making Him known? (Matthew 28:18-20). Dig deep today and have a heart check!

Wednesday’s study spurred us to devote ourselves to teaching, fellowship, and accountability with the brethren. We are part of the body of Christ, and it is expected that we sharpen and strengthen one another in fellowship (Proverbs 27:17). Just as when a sharpened knife shines more when its dullness has been rubbed off, likewise, we will “shine” better when we are intentional about our fellowship with the brethren.

We were stirred up on Thursday to put Jesus first in our lives. In our plans and pursuits in life, Jesus should be our priority. Regardless of the opposition or challenges we face, spreading the Gospel is our goal. We persevere knowing that God has overcome for us (John 16:33). So do not lose heart brother! Do not be weary sister. Keep the fire burning! Put Jesus first in your life.

We wrapped the week on Friday by understanding and learning that God doesn’t give you an instruction for an assignment and leave you alone. No! He sees you right through it. God is mindful of you. He would never leave you nor forsake you.

Brethren, have faith and trust in God. In Hebrews 11:19, we see Abraham’s faith in his obedience to God’s word. What assignments are you scared to begin or have postponed to next year? Make a leap of faith by taking the first step.

God is our Father, and He loves us. Trust Him and cast your fears on Him. He sees you and is willing to guide you. Let Him guide you today.

We have rounded off our Bible Reading Plan for the year. If you are yet to finish, take the rest of the year to catch up. We are cheering you on!
