WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL RECAP

“Not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the lord ” – Romans 12:11 (NKJV)

Welcome to the 38th weekly devotional recap of the year. This week, we learnt about fervency in spirit and diligence in serving the Lord.

On Monday, we discussed how thriving as believers means being fervent in spirit and passionate in service to the Lord. Just as Aaron’s sons kept the altar fire burning (Leviticus 6:8-13), we must keep our altar of worship burning through prayers and God’s Word, which purifies like fire (Jeremiah 20:9). Elijah, though a man like us, performed wonders through his thriving prayer life (1 Kings 17:22). Amid life’s demands, it’s essential to keep our spiritual fire burning.

Tuesday’s article focused on the importance of diligence in our service to the Lord. Apostle Paul’s charge to the Roman believers to serve with diligence remains relevant today. True service goes beyond mere actions—it requires complete dedication and fervour (Colossians 3:23). The essence of diligence is urgency, highlighting the time-sensitive nature of God’s work. Proclaiming the gospel and reflecting Christ in our lives should be done with eagerness, not taken lightly.

On Wednesday, we discussed being saved to serve and the mindset required. Devotion demands full attention and submission (Matthew 4:10), with our dedication to God being exclusive, even amid life’s multitasking. Our service must align with God’s will (Deuteronomy 10:12), following Jesus’ example of full submission (Philippians 2:5-8). We reflect our service to God by humbly serving others with love, using our gifts and talents.

Thursday’s devotional taught us to approach service to God with zeal (John 4:34). Our Father is purpose-centered, and as His children, we must be consecrated to His plans and purposes. We ought to be consumed by God’s agenda, and our commitment should be so apparent that others can see whom we are dedicated to. Jesus gave His life for us, and in response, we are called to live fully for Him (2 Corinthians 5:15).

We rounded up the week with a reminder that God can jealously guard His plans and purposes to fulfilment (Isaiah 9:7).  If God says something, then it is as good as done (Isaiah 55:11). Demonstrate your trust in Him by following His leadings and firmly holding on to His Word. Approach your devotion and service with the mindset that everything God has said, His zeal will perform. He has never failed, and He won’t start now.

Dear believer, you have been saved and commissioned to pursue the interests of the One who saved you.

Be diligent in service, knowing that God can work in and through you to accomplish His purpose.

Have a great Weekend!
