“Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.” Ephesians 5:1-2 (NKJV)
Yesterday, we examined how our salvation came at the priceless cost of the sacrifice of Jesus. The moment you receive the life of Christ, you do not only accept Him as your saviour, but also accept Him as Lord. This means that Jesus commands your obedience and you submit to Him in every area of your life.
Jesus in Mark 12: 30-31 explained that love for God and the love for our neighbours are the two greatest commandments. Every other fruit of our walk with God can be summarised under these two commandments. Therefore we should strive to grow in our walk with God and love for others.
In your walk with God, your focus is to please God. The Bible says in 1 John 3:9 that he that loves God does not make a practice of sin. This is because his desire is to live for God and to honour Him above all else. One major evidence of love for God is living above sin (John 14:15). This consecration to God is evident as there’s a clear contrast between whom you were before and who you are now.
As followers of Jesus Christ, we see that Jesus; our perfect example, modelled the character every believer should exhibit. He loved God and obeyed Him even till the point of death (Phillipians 2:8). We also see how He loved people passionately; He loved old and young, rich and poor, influential and un-influential alike. Jesus was very accommodating, kind, empathetic and even sensitive to the needs of others.
The beautiful thing is you have the Holy Spirit in you, so you don’t have to figure this out on your own, as you listen and walk with Him He changes you from the inside out till you look just like Christ (Galatians 5:22-23, Philippians 2:13).
Dear believer, you are an ambassador for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20). You ought to reveal God in your daily life through your consecration to God and love towards others. Your spiritual transformation should be discernible to people around you.Today, ensure to reveal Christ.
PRAYER: Today and beyond, it is evident to the world that I walk with God. I walk worthy of my calling and live a life that is pleasing to God. In Jesus name. Amen
