“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Ephesians 2:10 NIV
Welcome to the 33rd week of our devotional recap. This week we learned about the priceless gift of salvation, the purpose of our prayer, the miracle of changed desires, the Holy Spirit and our purpose as believers.
We started the week by looking at how salvation is a gift. A gift that we did not earn by works or religious obligations. This gift also comes with the seal of the Holy Spirit to give us assurance that we are God’s children forever.
On Tuesday, we examined the purpose of our prayers. We looked at how prayer is not just a tool for meeting our needs but also a tool for building capacity and aligning ourselves with God. When we pray, we are more sensitive to the leadership of the Holy Spirit and as such, our focus shouldn’t be on what prayer can do for us alone but what it does in us.
Wednesday’s study was a reminder of how salvation changes our desire and redirects us towards a selfless cause. We reiterated that our purpose now is to know Jesus and make him known. Armed with this knowledge, we are to go into the world and influence it for Christ.
On Thursday, we learned how the Holy Spirit and His gifts are for anyone who believes. It is important to know this because as believers we are to demonstrate the power of God everywhere we go. We need the Holy Spirit to influence the world and fulfill purpose.
We wrapped up the week by reminding ourselves that we are God’s creation, therefore He is in the best place to determine what our purpose is. Our purpose cannot be discovered from our career, jobs or individual assignments, it can only be found in God.
As believers, our purpose is to know Christ and make Him famous in our day. Regardless of our individual assignments, we have this one goal. Therefore, it’s time to get up, take our place, evangelize and influence this world together!
