WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL RECAP
“Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.” – Psalms 100:3 NKJV
Welcome to the 5th devotional recap of the year. This week’s articles offered a refreshing perspective on the new year, emphasising our service to God and others. They encouraged us to follow Christ’s example of selfless service, view God and ourselves through the lens of His greatness, and embrace the journey with faith and patience.
We began on Monday with a reminder that serving God is our purpose and the highest privilege of our lives (Philippians 1:29). Worship is our response to His goodness and grace, an everyday lifestyle of glorifying Him in thought, word, and action (1 Corinthians 10:31). True worship goes beyond outward expressions (Matthew 15:8); it flows from sincere reverence and total obedience to God. Serving God is the purpose of our lives, and when we worship God, we affirm His rightful place in our lives and testify to His sovereignty (Psalm 100:2-3).
On Tuesday, we saw how Jesus exemplified humility and service during His earthly ministry and called us to do the same (John 13:14). The culture of God’s kingdom is shaped and guided by His commandments, one of which is service (Philippians 2:3-4). The freedom we have in Christ is not for selfish desires but for serving one another in love (Galatians 5:16). Be intentional about living a life of service, conscious of the fact that you are serving God, not any man (Colossians 3:23).
Wednesday’s article served as a reminder that even though trials and tribulations are inevitable, Jesus has overcome them all (John 16:33). The key to staying calm despite surrounding troubles is placing your faith completely in Him (Mark 4:39). In the place of prayer, you can strengthen your faith and redirect your attention from challenges to God, your source of peace (Philippians 4:6-7). Let the knowledge of the victory you have in Christ fill your heart with peace.
On Thursday, we learnt to dream with God. When left unchecked, your thoughts and perceptions can limit what God can do with you. To strengthen Abraham’s faith, God showed him the stars as a visual of His promise of a son and countless descendants (Genesis 15:5-6). Our minds often struggle to grasp God’s promises because His ways are far beyond ours (Isaiah 55:9), but we must align our vision to see things from God’s perspective. He has great things prepared for your future, and He wants you to dare to dream with him. Refuse to settle for less.
We ended the week by learning that purpose requires both faith and patience. To see God’s promises fulfilled, we must add patience to our faith (Hebrews 6:13-15). Waiting is not inactivity but trust—knowing God is leading us to an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11). His plans are always best (Proverbs 19:21), and His instructions pave the way for miracles (Luke 5:4-5). This year, wait on the Lord (Isaiah 40:31), running with faith and patience until you reach the finish line.
Dear believer, give God your life and trust Him to fulfil His plans for you in His perfect time.
Have a blessed weekend!
