ULTIMATE SATISFACTION

“But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season…” –  Psalms 1:2-3 KJV

Everyone has something they enjoy doing. It could be playing games, painting, reading, watching sports or movies, eating, sleeping, spending time with loved ones or even working. It varies from person to person but the point is, as humans, we all derive satisfaction from something.

While there’s nothing wrong in deriving satisfaction from these things, it is important to note that they are temporary and therefore, bring temporary satisfaction. What if we derive satisfaction from something constant and everlasting?  The satisfaction we are sure will never run dry is found only in God’s Word.

In Isaiah 40:8, the prophet explained the durability of God’s word. It will stand forever! Hence, your greatest delight should be in God’s word.

In a world full of so many voices and diverse opinions,  it is important to fortify your mind with God’s word. And the way to do that is to delight yourself in the Word. To delight in God’s word is to put it before any other opinion. Nothing in your life, no matter how treasured they are to you, should compete with the time you spend with God’s word.

You shouldn’t do it out of duty alone but because of delight and burning desire for God. Be eager to study the word the way you hurriedly wrap up work to watch your favourite team playing or new episodes of your favourite show. You must put in the effort; that is how to be fruitful in your endeavours  (Psalms 1:1-3)

When you delight in the word of God, it becomes the basis on which you live your life. It would guide you in making your decisions in life. When the devil tempted Jesus, He responded from the Scriptures (Matthew 4:3-4). It is easier to overcome temptations when you make the word of God a foundation by which you conduct your affairs.

Your delight in the word of God would be reflected in what you do. Therefore, create a structure that will ensure you spend quality time in the Word every day of your life. People who love to paint or write often allocate specific times for their craft daily. You should do the same with your Bible study.

Consecrate in your heart that it will be your delight and your life’s pursuit. God deserves the best of your time, so it is paramount that you have a vibrant devotional life. Your spiritual growth will be evident to others around you when you do this, and you can be a blessing to many others.

Dear believer, immerse yourself in God’s Word today and every other day and watch your life transform. Ultimate satisfaction awaits you!
