“And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.” Romans 8:11 NIV

Imagine that a traveller purchased a first-class ticket on a flight, then got on board and was assigned a preferred seating position. However, all through the trip, he kept worrying and even fretting that his seat would be reassigned or downgraded. Would that not be absurd? Who will dare downgrade or re-assign a first-class ticket holder? Well, that’s how some believers act when considering the work of the Spirit especially as it relates to resurrection.

From our anchor scripture, we see that the Holy Spirit is an engine that powers us as believers. What He did in Jesus raising Him back to life, He will replicate with us as well.

In 1 Corinthians 6:14 (NLT), Apostle Paul re-emphasizes this point about the efficacy of the Holy Spirit.

“And God will raise us from the dead by his power, just as he raised our Lord from the dead.”

Let this rekindle your hope. Death is only a tragedy when we don’t have this information (Romans 6:9). The fundamental teaching on eternity hangs on the resurrection of Jesus.

The same Spirit that raised Jesus will also raise us up. The resurrection of Jesus is not a one-time experience, it has become a prototype (2 Corinthians 4:14). By the same Spirit, He will raise up all who believe in Him. This has become our assurance.

This Spirit constantly dwells in you even when you don’t feel like it. From the day you believed in Christ Jesus, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13-14). So even when you do not feel close to God, the Holy Spirit is still right there with you.

If you believe that Jesus died and rose again, then you should not doubt in your heart that all those who believe in Jesus and sleep in death will also rise again (1 Thessalonians 4:14). This is wonderful news.

Dear believer, as long as you believe in the Gospel, the same Spirit that was in Christ Jesus is already in you. The power of resurrection already dwells in you. This is your assurance that you will dwell with God forever. The Spirit that raised up Jesus dwells in you, the life-giving power dwells in you.
