KEEP STUDYING

“I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.” – ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119‬:‭16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

If you have ever learned a skill then you can testify to the fact that gaining knowledge in anything requires ample time and consistency. You can only be knowledgeable in what you have deliberately learned. As believers, our guide to navigating life and growing in our Christian walk is embedded in God’s Word. Hence, we must spend enough time studying it.

After salvation, the next important thing for a believer is to grow in the knowledge of their new life in Christ (Ephesians 1:17). To grow in the knowledge of God, you have to read and understand the scriptures. Thus, you must have the right disposition to study the word.

The Bible calls a man who delights in God’s word a blessed man (Psalm 1:1-3). The good news is, that you can grow your fondness for anything by giving it more attention, practice this with the word of God. Build interest in studying the word.

Keep in mind that studying God’s word demands diligence; you must invest your time and commit to it (2 Timothy 2:15). You cannot read God’s word merely when you feel like it; it must become a habit. The key to being a good student of the word is consistency. When you consistently read God’s word, you are more likely to live a life that is in line with God’s purpose for you. His word will give you clarity and equip you totally.

There are some practical approaches to living a studious life: Create a Bible study plan and build a framework around it so that nothing is left to chance. You should also join a Christian community that will inspire you to learn. Also, make an effort to show up even when you don’t feel like it; this is how determination to study the word is built.

Moreso, diligence in studying the word involves memorizing and meditating on it (Joshua 1:8). When Jesus was tempted He rebuked the devil with what He had studied in the scriptures. It shows that knowing the word of God by heart is useful in helping you to resist the temptations of the devil. Don’t stop studying the word.

Prayer: Daddy help me to delight in Your word more than ever before. I’m inclined to study my Bible every day and to be a doer of Your word.
