“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” – Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV)
Imagine a man who starts going to the gym to build muscles. He lifts weights for two weeks and sees no results, so he cancels his subscription and moves to another gym. He won’t see any results in the next gym because the problem wasn’t the gym but his ability to commit. Bodybuilding is an activity that has a compound effect; it happens over time through consistency.
As believers, we are instructed to exercise ourselves unto Godliness (1 Timothy 4:7). Hence, we can deduce that spiritual growth requires consistency, and to grow in the exercise of spiritual gifts, it would require consistent practice.
Many believers today struggle with consistency in the supernatural. Some step out in faith, and when they don’t see instant results, they give up. While, some feel unworthy or doubt their ability to operate in spiritual gifts.
But the truth is this, growing in the supernatural requires persistence, faith, and partnership with the Holy Spirit. Just as physical muscles grow with exercise, spiritual gifts develop when you use them frequently. Always trust the Spirit of God in you, continue to stretch your faith, and walk in the power of God.
The supernatural is not reserved for a select few—it is the inheritance of every believer, including you. Jesus said in Mark 16:17-18, “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues… they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” God wants us to walk in the supernatural, but you must be willing to keep at it and grow.
Do not get discouraged when you pray for the sick and nothing happens or when you receive a word of knowledge and it is refuted. As long as you’re stepping out in faith, you are getting better and your sensitivity is growing.
Persistence is very important for walking in the supernatural. Let us consider Elijah, when he prayed for rain he didn’t see immediate results. But instead of giving up, he kept sending his servant to check the sky. At the seventh time, a small cloud appeared, and soon, the rain poured (1 Kings 18:42-44).
You must develop a tenacity that is stronger than feelings of discouragement. Maybe you have been praying and exercising your faith, but the breakthrough has not come yet. Don’t give up and do not doubt. That will give the devil an inroad into your heart (James 1:6)
Dear believer, keep praying and keep believing. The more you step out in faith, the more you will grow in the supernatural. God is ready to move through you, keep growing, and you will see His power manifest in and through your life.
