“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.”
2 Corinthians 13:14 NKJV
When we speak of the Trinity, we refer to our conviction in faith that there is only one God who exists, and has revealed Himself to us, in three equal and distinct divine persons – God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ) and God the Holy Spirit.
Our salvation was initiated by God the Father. Apostle Paul explains in Ephesians 1:4-6 that, “before God made the world, He loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in His eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into His family through Jesus Christ.”
The Father’s plan for our salvation was fulfilled through the Son, Jesus Christ who gave His life to save mankind. In John 5:17-18, the Pharisees were vexed because they believed that Jesus was making Himself to be equal with God by calling Himself the Son of God. Jesus meant it exactly as that, and Apostle Paul confirmed this in Romans 1:4, explaining that “Jesus was shown to be the Son of God when He was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Only as God could the death of Jesus on the cross and the shedding of His blood have been enough, eternally, for our salvation and the forgiveness of our sins (Ephesians 1:7, Hebrews 9:26. God satisfied the penalty for our sins through the sacrifice of Christ and declares us forgiven, righteous and justified.
It is the Holy Spirit who makes the salvation we have received from God the Father, through Jesus Christ the Son, become a present reality in our lives. God identifies us as His own by giving us His Holy Spirit, who is the seal of our salvation (Ephesians 1:13-14).
Jesus established in John 4:24 that God is Spirit. Apostle Paul also stated the same in 2 Corinthians 3:17. By the Holy Spirit, the freedom and salvation that we have received from God through Jesus is eternally preserved.
God is intentional about you and me. He initiated and fulfilled His plan to save us, not as an afterthought, but according to His will. And by Him, we walk daily in the reality of what He has done.
Give God praise for His manifold wisdom revealed in His plan for our salvation through Jesus Christ by the power of His Holy Spirit.
