“But you will not leave in haste or go in flight; for the Lord will go before you, the God of Israel will be your rear guard.” – Isaiah 52:12 NKJV
The Yoruba tribe of Nigeria have a name for God, ‘Oranmo nise fayati’, which means ‘The one who sends and backs one up’. It implies that when God sends one on an assignment, He doesn’t leave that person alone to fulfil it on his/her own, He funds, goes with and backs the person up.
God has called you as a believer to make Him known. One thing to always remember is that you are not going on this journey alone, God is right there with you backing you up.
This should make you hold your head up high, knowing that the One who created the world, is with you on this journey to influence the world systems for His cause.
When you encounter obstacles in this journey of purpose and influence, you must be rest assured that God is walking with you. You can bank on Him because His Word says so (Isaiah 40:10).
God has your back so you should understand that although you are faced with challenges on every side, you are not consumed and God is working things out for good (2 Corinthians 4:8, Romans 8:28).
The Bible is replete with practical examples of people who God called and He showed up for and marvellously helped them. In 1 Samuel 17:48-51, David went to battle with Goliath, and he defeated him because God’s backing was with Him.
You have to understand that God always shows up for His children. You should trust that He will never leave you nor forsake you so, you can not be shaken by trials (Deuteronomy 31:6).
God has a track record of coming through for His people. When He called Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, a world leader without any army or military expertise, He saw them through and fulfilled His promise to set them free from the Egyptians (Exodus 3-12).
Has God given you a mighty vision or a mountain of influence to conquer, don’t be afraid, He is going with you. Are you encountering problems on this road, He backs you up and nothing can overcome you. The same God of the Bible who had the back of His children is still your God in this contemporary time.
In Proverbs 3: 5-6 we are instructed to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” God can be trusted.
Dear believer, you can put all your eggs in God’s basket in this journey of purpose because He will surely hold it all together. In different seasons of purpose, God has your back. As you go through this life’s journey, you can depend on God because He will never fail you.
