Day 69, March 10th, 2025 ( Deuteronomy 11-13, Acts 16:25-17:9)

Miraculous acts of God are often a magnet to call the attention of unbelievers to the light of the gospel. There are many examples in the scriptures where God used miracles to call people’s attention to Himself. Despite the benefits of miracles, the overarching purpose is still salvation.

In the same vein, Acts 16:25-17:9 shows that even after being arrested, the apostles still took time to pray and sing hymns to God in prison. As they prayed, their deliverance manifested by an earthquake that shook the prison and set them free. Seeing this, the prison guard marvelled, and he asked what he must do to be saved. Immediately, the apostles preached to him, and he and his household believed the gospel and were saved.

After their freedom, when they got to Thessalonica, Paul, being his habit, went into the synagogue and began debating scriptures with the Jews. His purpose was to let them see from the scrolls they read how the prophecy given aforetime had come to pass, and they needed to believe in Jesus.

Deuteronomy 11-13 focuses on the blessings of obedience God has placed for the Israelites. He gives them a choice between blessings and curses as their obedience or disobedience determine what they will receive.

All the blessings of the Lord stated in these scriptures come with the condition of obedience. Choose to walk in obedience today.

But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.

Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed.

And the keeper of the prison, awaking from sleep and seeing the prison doors open, supposing the prisoners had fled, drew his sword and was about to kill himself.
