WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL RECAP

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;”

– Philippians 4:6(NKJV)

Welcome to the 39th week of our devotional recap. We started this week’s teaching by learning on how to cast our cares on God, to worry be gone, to joy over depression, to fear not and we concluded with a reminder on giving thanks.

On Monday, we learnt about how we can cast our cares on Jesus. In our study, our anchor scripture was Philippians 4:6 and from there we proceeded to talk about how we should look past the storms and see that Jesus is in the boat with us. We used Peter as a case study and from the story of Peter, we understood that we shouldn’t fix our eyes on the storm but on Jesus. When anxious we were also urged to pray and make confessions.

The title of our study on Tuesday was ‘worry be gone.’ We looked at ways to deal with worry which are to pray, study God’s word and thirdly remember what God has done in the past, use your words to rebuke worrying and lastly we should rejoice because God’s got us. In finality, we were urged to obey God’s word by displacing worry and fear.

The following day, we were instructed to choose joy over depression. We learnt that the devil’s strategy is to separate us from God through depression. We are to resist the devil by the word of God. This teaching concluded with a charge to always be joyful and give thanks.

On Thursday, the title of our study was ‘Fear Not’ In this study, we saw that God has not given us a spirit of fear but that of love, power and a sound mind. As children of God, we underscored that we have nothing to fear. Fear has made people take actions outside of God’s word. God has got us covered so there is no reason to fear.

We concluded our teaching series for the week with ‘Give Thanks.’  In this study, we got a redirection on how we ought to be giving thanks. We do not give thanks when all of our goals are ticked. Giving thanks should be our daily action. Thanksgiving is an act of trust in God and shouldn’t only be done when things are going as planned because there are so many reasons to thank God

SAY THIS: I trust God over the affairs of life. I am anxious for nothing. There is no reason to be afraid because God directs every aspect of my life.
