WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL RECAP

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” – Matthew 5:14,16 NKJV

Welcome to the 33rd weekly devotional recap of the year. This week, we looked at how the church relates to different mountains of influence.

We began with a discussion about the Church and government. As believers, we must not shy away from positions of influence where our voices can be heard and our values represented (Proverbs 29:2). God expects the believer to follow Christ’s example and see government/leadership as an opportunity to serve people and be a blessing to others (Mark 10:42-43, Philippians 2:5-8). You have a part to play in the leadership of your country. Do not conform to what the world has deemed normal. Take up space, shine your light, and uphold policies of righteousness.

Tuesday’s devotional showed us why it is important for the believer to have economic relevance. To effectively propagate the gospel, our presence in the marketplace, access to financial resources, and capacity for economic influence cannot be overlooked (Acts 4:36-37), because social and economic influence can be powerful tools for spreading the Gospel (Matthew 27:57). By His Spirit, God has equipped you to command resources that can advance His kingdom, so use your skills, influence, and resources to gain economic relevance and propagate the Gospel. For you, economic relevance is a means, not an end in itself.

On Wednesday, we saw the place of the Church as it relates to family. One of the most powerful ways to change the world is by building strong families with godly values. Following God is a conscious decision that every individual should make, but as you grow in God, you must share the gospel with your family (Joshua 24:15, 2 Timothy 1:5). The future of the Christian faith depends on creating godly homes and raising children who will love the Lord and influence society positively. Choose to play your part.

Thursday’s article taught us about the church and media. You carry a message of eternal value, so you must use every available channel to spread it. The world understands media’s power to shape culture, and we cannot afford to be passive. If our mandate is to evangelise the world (1 Timothy 2:4), we must go into the spaces people pay attention to (Matthew 5:14-15). We cannot ignore the power of the media if we want to reach the people who need to hear the message. Use every platform within your reach to promote godly values, and refuse to think small.

We ended the week with a reminder that education is not only about academics but also about shaping destiny. Just as Timothy was taught the Scriptures from childhood (2 Timothy 3:15) and Jesus Himself sought wisdom early in life (Luke 2:46-47), no child is too young to encounter God’s Word. The Church has a vital role to guide children toward godly knowledge. By building schools rooted in biblical values, offering scholarships and support, creating mentorship opportunities, and opening its doors as safe spaces for learning, the Church can raise not just intelligent minds but godly leaders. Each of us has a part to play in ensuring the next generation grows in both wisdom and faith.

Dear believer, God has placed you in this generation to be a light on every mountain of influence. Do not stand by while the world shapes the culture; rise and take your place.

Have a beautiful weekend.
