“For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
Matthew 7:8 NIV
Welcome to the 30th weekly devotional recap of the year. This week, we ended our discussion on supernatural leadership and began a new series on evangelism.
We started the week with a charge to seek wisdom (James 1:5). You cannot navigate life by instinct or experience alone. There is a kind of wisdom that only comes from God, and the good news is that He gives it generously to all who ask. Resist the temptation to lean on your own understanding or assume that you can figure life out on your own (Proverbs 1:29-31, Proverbs 3:5-6). When you seek wisdom, you position yourself to make decisions that align with God’s will. The Bible assures us that all who seek wisdom diligently will find it (Proverbs 8:17).
On Tuesday, we were encouraged to seek direction from God, just like David did (1 Samuel 30:8). Even when he was faced with pressure to act quickly, David paused to ask, “Lord, what would You have me do?” That’s a question you must learn to ask. Your knowledge, experience, or resources will never be enough without God’s leading. The vision belongs to God, and only He can show you how to carry it out. Position yourself by involving Him in both the small and big decisions of your life, no matter how ordinary or overwhelming they may seem. As you look to Him, He will direct your steps according to His will.
Wednesday’s devotional was a reminder to seek knowledge (Hosea 4:6). The day you got saved was not the end of learning; it was the beginning. To grow as a believer, you must commit to learning the Word and renewing your mind. Knowledge guards you from error (Romans 10:1-3), strengthens you to know about and walk in your authority as a believer (Ephesians 1:15-18), and helps you walk in a manner consistent with your nature in God (Colossians 3:10). Without it, even sincere believers can go astray (Romans 10:1). God has given you His Spirit, His Word, and godly teachers. Now it’s up to you to seek, learn, and grow.
On Thursday, we were encouraged to seek clarity (1 Samuel 23:4). David didn’t just ask God once; he inquired again. He wanted to be sure he was in step with God’s will. Instead of relying on the strength of his army or his experience as an army commander, he trusted in God and never lost a battle. That can also be you. You don’t have to live life guessing or learning everything the hard way. You can ask God for clarity and trust Him to speak. One important way to build this as a culture is by having an unwavering commitment to prayer (Psalm 55:17). You can be correct 100% of the time when you trust God for clarity. The key is to ask Him.
We ended the week with a powerful reminder that Jesus is the only true way to salvation (Acts 4:12). Salvation is not subject to personal preferences because God is sovereign. Every other so-called saviour died and remained in the grave, but Jesus rose from the dead! This is God’s stamp of approval on Him. If there was another way, Christ would not have needed to die. Don’t be silent about the truth. No other name has been given by which we must be saved.
Dear believer, seeking is an active posture of faith. From today, make sure to look to God for wisdom, direction, knowledge, clarity, and the truth about salvation.
Have a beautiful weekend!
