WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL RECAP

“Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.” — Hebrews 13:17 (NKJV)

Welcome to the 29th weekly devotional recap of the year. This week, we learned to honour our leaders by submitting to them, praying for them, gifting them, and supporting them.

We kicked off this week on Monday with a teaching on the importance of submitting to our leaders, as highlighted in Hebrews 13:17. In today’s individualistic world, submission to authority can be challenging, but it is essential for spiritual growth and mentorship. By fully submitting to our spiritual leaders, we allow them to guide us joyfully, enhancing our faith journey. This mutual benefit fosters a supportive environment where both leaders and followers can thrive.

On Tuesday, we learned that every Christian is called to discipleship as a core aspect of spiritual growth. In the kingdom of God, disciples are called to be soldiers of faith, wielding truth and righteousness with unwavering commitment. Like soldiers in earthly armies, disciples follow Christ with absolute obedience and dedication.

Wednesday’s article taught us that just as shock absorbers help a car navigate rough surfaces smoothly, our spiritual leaders help us through life’s challenges. They act as teachers, comforters, and encouragers, absorbing our burdens and guiding us. In return, we should honour and support them through gifts, time, and attentive listening, acknowledging their sacrifices and enhancing our faith community. This support not only honours our leaders but also strengthens our spiritual journey and the health of our church.

Thursday’s article reminded us of the importance of praying for our spiritual leaders. Just as rechargeable batteries keep devices running, our prayers keep our leaders strong and energised. Praying for their strength, wisdom, and well-being ensures they can continue to guide and support us effectively. Our prayers show love and honour for their sacrifices and leadership.

On Friday, we learned the importance of loyalty and kindness, as emphasised in Proverbs 3:3. Just as sheep loyally follow their shepherd, we should support and appreciate our spiritual leaders. This intentional loyalty fosters growth and harmony within our communities. By reflecting on our loyalty and kindness, we ensure our support for our leaders remains visible and consistent.

As Hebrews 13:17 reminds us, our leaders watch over our souls and must give an account for us. Let us make their work a joy by submitting to them, praying for them, and supporting them in every way possible.

Have a great Weekend!
