TRUE GOSPEL

‘But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8 NKJV

Picture a man in a serious debt situation such that he and his family  have been taken as perpetual slaves to the lender. Unexpectedly, someone shows up to pay his debt and delivers his family from slavery and sets him up to have all his needs met for the rest of his life. This is a picture of  what the Gospel is – an unexpected gift that is capable of completely changing your life.

The word ‘Gospel’ is derived from the Greek word ‘euaggelion’, which means “good news.” It is the demonstration of God’s love and not condemnation for His choicest creation-mankind. It’s God’s way of redeeming man from his past failures and giving him the ability to live a new life without the fear of eternal condemnation (Romans 8:1).

From the moment sin entered the world through Adam, humanity was doomed to eternal separation from God (Romans 5:12). No effort, good works, or religious rituals were able to restore what was lost (Romans 3:23, Ephesians 2:9). However, God, in His infinite mercy, provided a way of escape—His Son, Jesus Christ (Romans 5: 6-8). Through His death on the cross, Jesus took the punishment we deserved, paying the price for every sin, past, present, and future (Isaiah 53: 4-6, Romans 3:25). His resurrection sealed the victory, granting eternal life to all who believe in Him (John 1:12, 3:16).

The Bible right from Genesis to Revelation reveals two profound truths: man’s helplessness and the sufficiency of God’s grace. We cannot earn salvation through our deeds; it is a free gift received by faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). When we accept the Gospel, we are justified before God, clothed in righteousness, and sealed with the Holy Spirit as proof of our new life in Christ (Romans 5:1-2, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Ephesians 1:13).

Romans 1:16 declares, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.” This message is not just for a select few—it is for all who will believe it. It is a gift that transforms lives, breaking the chains of sin and filling hearts with unshakable hope and joy unspeakable; and the right response to this incredible gift is to believe, rejoice, and share it with others (Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15).

Dear believer, the Gospel is not meant to be kept to ourselves; it is a gift that must be shared with the world. It’s your partnership with God to continue the work of salvation by bringing many into glory (2 Corinthians 5:18-20). Therefore, as you go about this week, take a moment to reflect on the gift of salvation and endeavor to share the Gospel with someone.
