THE RIGHT APPROACH

“And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.” – ‭‭Mark‬ ‭16‬:‭15‬ (‭NLT)‬‬

“Gbo gbo nise” is an expression popularly used by marketers who sell over-the-counter (OTC) herbal drugs in public buses in Lagos, Nigeria. It suggests that the singular drug they’re selling can cure every possible ailment. Sounds ridiculous right?

While their claims might be false, one thing we cannot deny is their bravery and how they seize every opportunity to talk about what they believe can cure the human body. How much more you, who has a message that can surely save a soul from eternal damnation?

Our approach to evangelism should be like that of the woman at the well. She ran back to the town proclaiming Jesus immediately after her encounter with Him (John 4:28-30). The Gospel’s message should be shared with urgency, and to everyone. If we truly believe the Gospel has the power to save, we must act like it.

The last words of Jesus to His disciples expressed His utmost priority. That we go and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19-20). Irrespective of where you find yourself, the great commission should remain your priority (2 Timothy 4:2). Even in secular spaces, be bold and speak about what you stand for.

One way to do this is by being bold about the message of your faith. Be unashamed of the Gospel (Romans 1:16). Rather, proclaim it everywhere, through your social media, in your workplace and at any chance you get.

As believers, God wants our secular lives to give Him glory. So you must approach your daily life with an evangelical motive. Talk to that co-worker about Jesus, invite that person on your street to church and offer to take up the expense. Take advantage of your influence and platforms to spread the Gospel!

Let it be etched in your consciousness that you are God’s envoy here on Earth. You have been chosen to show the praises of Him who has called you into His marvellous light (1 Peter 2:8). You must see yourself as God’s gift to your world (John 4:10).

Moreso, you should be sensitive while engaging unbelievers. Do not approach them with a voice of condemnation, rather seek to understand them. In this way, you can effectively tackle the area they need help with. Through empathy, you can sense the best way to approach different individuals (Jude 1: 22-23).

Dear believer, approach evangelism with love, zeal and urgency. The Gospel is for eternity but we do not have eternity to preach it. Jesus is coming soon, and you must always be ready to tell the world about Him.

DO THIS: Tell someone about Jesus today!!
