THE GLORY OF GOD IN THE GOSPEL

For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea – Habakkuk 2:14 (NKJV)

This week, you learned about the most important message on earth – the Gospel. It is, without a doubt, the greatest news humanity has ever received. At the heart of the Gospel lies the profound message that Jesus Christ came, died, rose again, and that God accepted Christ’s sacrifice as the payment for your sins. In this lies the revelation of God’s glory made manifest through humility and sacrifice.

In the Old Testament, God’s glory was often displayed in dramatic forms, such as clouds or fire (Exodus 40:34-38, 2 Chronicles 7:1-3). Now, in the New Covenant, God’s glory is revealed through Jesus, who is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of His nature ( John 1:14, Hebrews 1:3). Despite His divine nature, Jesus chose to become a servant and ultimately gave His life on the cross, displaying the humility of a God who loves His creation enough to sacrifice Himself (John 3:16, Philippians 2:6-8).

The resurrection of Jesus is another powerful revelation of God’s glory. By raising Jesus from the dead, God not only demonstrated His sovereignty over death, but He also made a way for you to share in Christ’s victory over sin and death if you are united with Him by faith (Hebrews 2:14-15). The resurrection is the guarantee of eternal life, the assurance that God’s plan to restore creation will be fulfilled (Romans 6:4).

Additionally, the glory of God in the Gospel is experienced through the Holy Spirit. When you respond to the message of the Gospel with repentance and faith, you are not only forgiven and reconciled to God, but you also receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit dwells within you, transforming you into the image of Christ and empowering you to live for God’s glory (2 Corinthians 3:18). In this way, the glory of God is not only something you behold in the person of Christ but something that becomes a living reality in your life as a follower of Him.

Remember, the Gospel is not merely a message of personal salvation. It is also the revelation of God’s glory as seen in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
