“And He (Jesus) said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” – Mark 16:15 (NKJV)
Today, there are over eight billion people living across seven continents, with some in hard-to-reach places. Imagine being told you must deliver a message to every single one of them. It sounds overwhelming, even impossible, but this is precisely what Jesus told His apostles to do. He gave his disciples a mission that reached the very ends of the earth: to go into all the world and preach the gospel. Amazingly, not one of them stopped to ask, “How is that possible?” or “Where do we even start?”
The apostles had walked with Jesus for three years, and they knew that if He said it, it was possible. History proves them right, as they carried the message everywhere until people called them those who turned the world upside down (Acts 17:6).
Centuries have passed since Jesus gave the Great Commission, but it has not expired. He still commands believers today to go into all the world and preach the gospel. You may not stand on a pulpit, but you have a role to play in spreading the good news globally. The “world” here is not just geography; it refers to every sphere of life. Are you a doctor? Carry the gospel into the healthcare system. A lawyer? Let your faith shine in the justice system. Whatever your profession may be, whether education, business, arts, or technology, bring the message of Christ into it.
Your influence should also reach your family, friends, neighbours, and community. You don’t need a stage, a microphone, or thousands of followers to share the gospel. The disciples had none of those. All they had was a command, and as they obeyed, God gave the increase (1 Corinthians 3:6).
The same Spirit that empowered the apostles lives in you. Stop waiting for perfect conditions, a bigger platform, or the right moment. Start instead with what you have and speak where you are. You must play your part in ensuring that the good news of Christ reaches the ends of the earth.
For example, you can be a social media evangelist by sharing sermon links, excerpts, faith-based content, and messages of encouragement. You can also go out in your community and preach in person. Additionally, you can support missions and ministries financially, helping the gospel reach billions of people worldwide.
Dear believer, the Great Commission is not a suggestion; it is a command. Play your part today, tomorrow and every day in spreading the gospel.
