SURRENDER YOUR WORK

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.” – Colossians 3:23-24 NLT.

There’s something sacred about our everyday work. Whether you’re leading a team, caring for others, creating or building something new, your work matters to God. It’s more than a means to an end; it’s one of the ways we reflect Him and carry out His purpose on earth.

Daniel’s story reminds us of this. As a top official in Babylon, his faith shaped the way he worked. His devotion and integrity to God were so evident that even the king took notice. In the same way, your work, no matter how visible or quiet, can shine forth God’s light.

What does it mean to surrender your work to God? It means doing your tasks with the awareness that you are ultimately working for Christ. It means seeking His direction before making decisions, and allowing His Word to guide how you show up, on good days and hard ones. Our work becomes worship when we hand it back to God.

Surrender also looks like trust. You might know your field well, but surrendering invites you to approach it with humility, acknowledging that God sees the full picture. It may stretch your comfort or interrupt your plans, but trusting God with your work is never wasted (Proverbs 3:5–6). His way always leads to something greater; maybe not always in results, but certainly in fruit.

The key to surrendering your work is remembering who you are. Just as Daniel never forgot he was a Jew living in Babylon. He was known for his faith, honesty and integrity (Daniel 6:4–5). In the same way, you are a child of God, filled with His Spirit. This is what sets you apart.

So, start by inviting Him in. Ask, “Lord, what would You have me do today through my work?” That posture of surrender turns daily tasks into divine opportunities.

Surrendering your work also means reflecting the character of Jesus in everything you do. Even when no one’s watching, you’re called to work with excellence, integrity, and faithfulness.

Dear believer, your work is not ordinary. God delights in partnering with you right where you are. So surrender it. Trust Him with the process, the progress, and the outcome. He is doing a good work in you, and through the work of your hands.
