SIGNED, SEALED AND DELIVERED

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 (NLT)

Did you know that there are thousands of recognised religions in the world, each with systems, rituals, and rules for reaching God, but only one claims that God Himself came down to save man, without man’s input? That’s the Gospel.

This week, we will explore ‘Euangelion’—the Good News. We’ll discuss what the Gospel message truly is, why it must be proclaimed to the whole world and the importance of persisting in its spread despite challenges and opposition.

The message of the Gospel is that God, through Jesus Christ, has dealt with the problem of sin fully, finally, and forever. The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes (Romans 1:16). It’s an eternal message, preached from the beginning and will be preached until Christ returns. It was preached as a promise to Abraham that all nations would be blessed through his seed (Genesis 12:3; Galatians 3:8). This promise wasn’t just about land or lineage, but salvation.

This promise was fulfilled in the fullness of time (Galatians 4:4–5). Jesus was born, lived sinless, and became the perfect sacrifice for our sins (2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 John 3:5) so that we might be declared righteous, sinless, and blameless. He bore our sins on the cross, died, was buried, and rose again on the third day. This was God’s sovereign plan, not man’s achievement.

Our anchor scripture perfectly describes the weight of God’s sacrifice. Therefore, God desires that this message be preached to everyone, regardless of age or race, so that all may be saved (1 Timothy 2:4).

Finally, we must recognise that no other name through which man can be saved except Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12). Salvation comes by believing in the finished work of Christ, and we have the responsibility to live a life worthy of it.
