SEALED

“Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

 Philippians 1:6 NKJV

Suppose someone were to ask you if you are sure of your salvation. What would your response be? Your answer should be yes. In fact, you must be able to boldly declare your assurance of salvation.

Our response to salvation as believers must always be that of assurance that we have the promise of eternal life, and we can live free of oppressive thoughts that somehow we can lose this precious gift that God has given us. If you have received Christ, then your salvation is guaranteed by God!

Assurance of salvation is one of the most wonderful and comforting teachings of the Bible. Yet, many Christians sadly do not embrace or fully appreciate it because they fail to see that God is solely responsible for the entirety of their salvation—from start to finish.

Some Christians pray to “make heaven,” and hope that Jesus does not leave them behind when He comes back to take His children. They believe that they can do certain things to influence God’s decision to save them on the Last Day.

Let us first consider our anchor scripture. That verse already tells us that God not only is the originator of salvation but also the perfecter. The writer of Hebrews corroborates this by referring to Him as “the author and finisher” of our faith! (Hebrews 12:2)

In John 10:27-29, Jesus said something so profound concerning this:

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.”

Furthermore, the Bible tells us in Ephesians 1:13-14 that we were sealed with the Holy Spirit. When the manufacturer of a product puts a seal on it, that seal acts as a guarantee of quality, as well as a protective cover for the contents. God’s Holy Spirit in us basically marks our salvation as ‘original’ and secure!

Because we have the Holy Spirit, we are marked as God’s. The Holy Spirit living and dwelling in us is the seal and assurance of our salvation. The best part is that nothing can break that seal!

As a Child of God, the salvation you have received in Christ must birth peace and an eternal conviction in you. No matter how long you’ve been in doubt of your place in God’s salvific plan, you must know that God has saved you completely.

So, repent of trying to keep yourself, and rest in God’s divine salvation that cannot be lost.
