“Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.” – Amos 3:7 (NKJV)
This week, we have learnt that we must prepare for special seasons of devotion by prayer, and we have learnt how to prepare for victory. In today’s article, we are taking things up a notch by talking about the life-altering advantage that the Believer in Christ enjoys– Prophecy.
Prophecy is how we peek into the future to know what God’s plan and purpose are for every season of our lives. With prophecy as our advantage, we do not need to go about our lives guessing what tomorrow holds; we can know with certainty what to do, when to do it, and with whom to do it.
To prepare with prophecy means to align your heart, your plans, and expectations with what God has spoken to you, both through His written Word and through prophetic utterances inspired by the Holy Spirit. Prophecy shows us God’s intention, reveals His heart, and positions us for what He is set to do.
All through Scripture, God used prophecy to prepare His people. Before Jesus was born, God spoke through Isaiah: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son” (Isaiah 7:14 NKJV). That prophecy carried hope across generations, preparing Israel for the coming Messiah. Even the birth of John the Baptist was announced prophetically to prepare the way for Christ (Luke 1:13-17). Preparation began with a word from God.
As the year ends, many reflect on accomplishments and disappointments. But preparation is not complete until you revisit what God has said. His promises, His instructions, warnings and encouragement. Some words remind you to be patient; others push you to take bold steps. Some correct your heart; others strengthen your hope. Every prophecy is a tool that reveals God’s intention and positions us to act on God’s word(1 Timothy 1:18).
Beloved, as we step into this season of devotion, do not prepare with fear or anxiety. Prepare with prophecy. Let the Word of the Lord shape your expectations. What God has said, He will perform.
Prepare your heart, prepare your plans, prepare your faith and prepare with prophecy.
