“But David said to Saul, ‘Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it’” – 1 Samuel 17:34-35 NKJV

Whether on the battlefield or football field, victory doesn’t begin in the moment; it begins in preparation. That is where strategy is formed, and instructions are given. No one stumbles into victory; you prepare for it.
Our anchor scripture is the behind-the-scenes of the story of David and Goliath. It shows us what happened before David stepped onto the battlefield to face Goliath. King Saul asked David about how he intended to conquer Goliath, and David’s answer revealed all the preparation that equipped him for that moment. His preparation started where no one could see him, in the field tending his father’s sheep.
As we prepare for camp meetings and step into a new season, ask yourself: What do you want to see in your life? How are you preparing for it? Victory depends on the preparation you make in your secret place.
For believers, preparation starts with prayer. This is where we receive instructions, alignment, and strategies for the new season. Prayer builds our faith to receive everything God has for us. Just as the football coach pulls the team aside, away from the crowd, to share the winning strategy ahead of the game, God wants to meet you in the secret place and share His strategies for your victory ( Jeremiah 33:3).
When God shares His strategy, what comes next? Obedience. We must run with God’s instruction. No soldier disobeys their commander on the battlefield; it could cost them everything. The same is true for us. Whatever God instructs us to do, we must obey. Write down the instructions you have received and the goals you have set. Go back to them regularly to stay aligned with what God has shown you (Habakkuk 2:2).
Finally, rely on the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit empowers you to do the will of God (Philippians 2:13). When a certain victory seems uncertain, the Holy Spirit reassures us that we always win. He is always with you, ready to guide you every step of the way (John 14:26).
Dear believer, victory is not a far-off concept for you; it is yours to claim, but it starts with preparation. Your desire for victory is proven by how well you prepare for it.
