OUR AUTHORITY IN CHRIST

“And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church.”

Ephesians 1:22 NIV

The resurrection of Jesus is arguably the greatest miracle known to man. A man, who had gone through a gruesome death on the cross, rose again on the third day, just as He had said. What a marvelous sight to behold to
everyone.

However, a greater miracle occurred during Jesus’ resurrection that was not apparent to the naked eye— the miracle that happens in us when we believe in the resurrection. Let’s look at how Jesus explained it to the His disciples:

“There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.” – John 14:2-3 NLT

“Now the time has come for the Son of Man to enter into his glory. I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives.” John 12:23-24 NLT

In these verses, Jesus was telling the disciples about the impact of His resurrection on their lives. Christ’s resurrection was to reconcile us to Himself and make room for us in the family of God. The advent of His Holy Spirit in us made it possible for us to be where He is.

Our Lord Jesus died as a man but rose as a church! He who was once the only begotten became the First begotten (Col. 1:18)! Hallelujah!
What does this mean for us today? Like Apostle Paul said in Ephesians, we are seated with Christ in heavenly realms (Eph. 2:6). This is who He has made us in Him. When Christ rose, we arose with Him with the same power and authority.

As a church, we are the expression of Christ in this world. His love, power and authority are and should be displayed in this world through us. In power, integrity and excellence, we are to show the world who Jesus is. In our evangelism and in working of healings and miracles, Christ must be glorified as Lord of all.

“For you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.” – 1 Peter 2:9 NLT

Dear believer, you are a part of this body whose head is Christ. You cannot be mediocre. In our day, the world must not look for God. Go out and show forth your authority in Christ today!
