MANAGING POSITION AND PLATFORM

“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.” – Colossians 3:23 NKJV

Every role you occupy, whether at work, in ministry, or in leadership, is more than a title; it is a trust from God. Your position is an assignment, and your platform is the influence that flows from it. Both must be managed with humility, integrity, and spiritual responsibility. As a believer, your conduct should consistently reflect Christ, because your attitude, words, and actions are part of your witness.

Scriptures remind us that promotion does not come from people but from God. “For exaltation comes neither from the east nor from the west nor from the south. But God is the Judge: He puts down one, and exalts another.” (Psalm 75:6-7 NKJV). This means every position, no matter how small or how prestigious, is not a personal achievement but a divine stewardship. You are placed there on purpose, for a purpose.

Joseph’s life is a remarkable reminder to us that faithfulness in every season leads to divine elevation. Whether in Potiphar’s house, in prison, or in Pharaoh’s palace, he served with unwavering diligence and excellence (Genesis 39:2–6; 39:20–23; 41:38–41). His consistency and integrity in each season made him trustworthy. Joseph didn’t serve for recognition; he served as unto the Lord. Likewise, the Christian worker must avoid eye service. What you do when no one is watching speaks louder in heaven than what you do for applause on earth.

Jesus redefined greatness as service: “Whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant.” (Matthew 20:26 NKJV). Leadership in God’s kingdom is not about power or visibility but about responsibility and sacrificial love. Every position is a platform to serve others and glorify God, not to boast or control.

Mismanaging a platform leads to ruin. King Saul lost his throne because of his pride and disobedience (1 Samuel 15:22-26). When ambition overrides obedience, and when position becomes an idol rather than a stewardship, downfall becomes inevitable. A wise believer stays humble, teachable, and accountable, remembering that every opportunity is temporary but God’s reward is eternal.

Beloved, whatever position you occupy today, manage it with the heart of a servant and the mindset of a steward, not an owner. Let your work be marked by honesty, diligence, and love. Use your influence to build others and reflect Christ in all you do.

Let your excellence be a testimony, your humility a fragrance, and your service a reflection of the One who called you; the One you ultimately serve.
