LET IT SHOW

“Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”  – Romans 6:4 (NKJV)

Have you ever planted a tree? If you have, you would know that in the early days, there’s little to show beyond the seed you buried in the soil. However, after a while, with the proper care, water, and sunlight, the tree begins to sprout. Over time, it’s impossible to hide the growth and it becomes evident to everyone.

In the same way, when Christ’s Spirit takes root in your life, the transformation won’t stay hidden. It will be as clear as a flourishing tree, bearing fruit for all to see. True transformation is not something to bury or keep secret; it must show through your actions, choices, and daily life.

One of the greatest hindrances to living out this reality is relying on self-effort. Many try to overcome sin through sheer willpower or self-discipline. Still, the Bible tells us that fundamental transformation comes through revelation. Ephesians 1:17 speaks of the importance of the eyes of our understanding being enlightened. The more you know what you have in Christ, the more empowered you become to walk in the Spirit and put to death the works of the flesh (Galatians 516).

In addition, we have been united with Christ in His death and resurrection. This is more than a theological concept; it is the very reality of your life now. You’re no longer a slave to sin. Your old nature was crucified with Christ. Now, you are free to walk in the newness of life (Romans 6: 1-6). But just as a prisoner declared free must act on that freedom, you too must take deliberate steps to live out this reality.

What does that look like in practical terms? First, feed your Spirit. You must be in environments that stir your faith and encourage your walk with God. Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Surround yourself with people who will hold you accountable and push you to grow.

Secondly, meditate on the Word. The cross is God’s ultimate solution to sin, and if you’re still struggling, it means a more profound revelation of it is needed. Romans 6:6 reminds us that our old self was crucified with Christ. The clearer this truth becomes, the easier it is to walk in the freedom Christ has given you. Fix your gaze on His finished work.

Finally, remember that every step you take in righteousness is a testimony of Christ’s resurrection power. Let your life constantly remind the world that Christ is alive in you. Your faith should not be hidden; it should be loud, visible, and transformative. Let today be the day you decide to walk fully in that new nature.
