GRATITUDE POINTS

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33 NKJV

It has been a whole year, for some of us, we may wonder what to thank God for when we look back because it seems like nothing significant happened to us. As Christians, this should not be our disposition because there are a million and one things to thank God for.

Often, we get caught up in the material things that God can give us instead of appreciating him for the most important thing He has done for us in Christ Jesus. We were going to face eternal condemnation but God sent Jesus Christ to die for us so that whosoever believes may live and have everlasting life (John 3:16).

Have you ever paused to think about what your life would be like if Jesus didn’t die for you? God saved us from a life that will cost us eternal rest and made us His righteousness of God in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:21).

We should never get too familiar with this precious gift of salvation because without it we won’t be where we are today. By this gift, we have the Spirit of God indwelling us, we can raise the dead, heal the sick, live forever, speak in tongues, live above sin and more.

This is more than enough reason to be thankful. This is why David in the psalms said this below:

“Oh come, let us sing to the Lord. Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the Lord is the great God, and the great King above all gods.”

Psalms 95:1-3 (NKJV).

Now that we know that our thanksgiving should not be a result of what is happening around us but a result of who we are in Christ Jesus, our focus for giving thanks should be re-aligned today.

When we become saved, it is no longer us who lives but Christ who lives in us (Galatians 2:20). Being aware of this, should make us continually have a heart of gratitude in both good and bad times.

Our anchor scripture informs us that when we seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, all other things will naturally be added to us. We are guaranteed a beautiful life in Christ Jesus, not because of anything material but because we have eternal life. So rather than have prayer points today, have “gratitude points”. Give thanks.

SAY THIS: I am always full of thanksgiving! My salvation is more than enough reason to thank God.
