GOD HAS AN AGENDA

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.”  – Matthew 13:44 (NKJV)

In Agriculture, the environment in which a seed is planted is just as important as the quality of the planted seed. If a good seed is planted in the wrong soil, it is not likely to grow.

God wants all men to be saved and the Gospel is sufficient to save all who believe (Romans 10:9-10, 1 Timothy 2:3-4). However, there is a devil who actively opposes this, whose primary goal is to hinder people from accepting the Gospel and prevent us from living the life God has ordained in salvation (2 Corinthians 4:3-4).

As a believer, you are God’s soldier enlisted to share the good news of the Gospel with all people and show forth the Glory of God to the ends of the earth (Mark 16:15, 1 Peter 2:9). To reach all men effectively, in addition to regular one-on-one evangelism, you need to think bigger—think global impact.

This is because as powerful as the Gospel is for salvation, the environment into which it is received is crucial. Jesus explains this in the parable of the sower in Matthew 13:1-9. The devil knows this as well and has been infiltrating various industries (entertainment, health, education, politics, etc.) to push his agenda and make the Word of God ineffective in the hearts of men.

Given this, as a soul winner, you must also find ways to influence various industries for God’s agenda. In our anchor Scripture, when the man discovered the treasure in the field, he did not just dig it up; rather, he bought the field. Think about it—without buying the field, anyone could have stopped him from taking the treasure, but he had the authority as the owner!

In the same vein, you should seek positions of influence in various facets of life not for selfish gain but for the sake of the Gospel. By doing so, you can establish principles of righteousness, advance the Gospel and create environments that foster the growth of God’s word.

Dear believer, you must be aware of the enemy’s plans and actively participate in God’s redemptive work. You must resist the devil’s schemes while wholeheartedly committing to God’s agenda through faith-driven social impact.

Say this prayer: Dear Father, please help me to recognise the various opportunities You have given me to buy fields for the Kingdom. Please open my eyes and help me know my role in Your divine agenda.
