Exodus 34-36 shows the merciful nature of God. After the Israelites worshipped a golden calf, Moses interceded for the people and God forgave them. God didn’t stop there, He went further to renew His covenant with His people.
It is also fascinating how Moses’ face radiated after spending time with the Lord. It was so much that he had to cover his face to speak with the Israelites because they couldn’t stand it. Truly, our countenance changes when we spend time with the Lord.
On the other hand, in Matthew 24:15-51, Jesus continues to describe the signs of the endtime and gives us instructions on how to navigate this period. He expects us to live each day like the Lord is coming as we cannot know when He will come.
He also warned that we should be careful of false prophets whose goal is to deceive believers. We can see this happening in our day.
As you wait expectantly for the Lord, ensure that you are not carried away with life’s activities. Be watchful.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for your mercy. Help me to be faithful and wise.
Today’s reading
Exodus 34-36
And the Lord said to Moses, “Cut two tablets of stone like the first ones, and I will write on these tablets the words that were on the first tablets which you broke.
So be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself to Me there on the top of the mountain.
And no man shall come up with you, and let no man be seen throughout all the mountain; let neither flocks nor herds feed before that mountain.”
Matthew 5:15-51
Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand),
“then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house.
