As believers, we regularly enjoy God’s favour in our lives. This favour always puts us in a position of privilege, even in difficult situations.
In Genesis 38-40, we see Joseph’s journey through hardship and favour. Despite being sold into slavery and thrown into prison for something he didn’t do, God’s mercy never left Joseph. An outstanding characteristic he exhibited was his kindness, humility, and care, even in difficult situations.
He didn’t let his circumstances change his character. Instead, he used his God-given gift of interpreting dreams to help others, which eventually opened doors for him. It’s a reminder that when God’s hand is on your life, no situation can stop His plan.
In Matthew 12:22-42, Jesus also teaches about recognising God’s work and not attributing it to evil. It’s about seeing God’s hand in every situation and acknowledging His power and mercy at work.
Both passages remind us that God’s favour and gifts in our lives can shine even in the darkest places. When we remain faithful and use what He’s given us, He’ll always make a way.
Prayer: Lord help me to always walk in favour.
Today’s reading
Genesis 38-40
1 It came to pass at that time that Judah departed from his brothers, and visited a certain Adullamite whose name was Hirah.
2 And Judah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite whose name was Shua, and he married her and went in to her.
3 So she conceived and bore a son, and he called his name Er.
Matthew 12:22-42
22 Then one was brought to Him who was demon-possessed, blind and mute; and He healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw.
23 And all the multitudes were amazed and said, “Could this be the Son of David?”
24 Now when the Pharisees heard it they said, “This fellow does not cast out demons except by Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons.”
