BLESSED II

“And because of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God righteousness and sanctification and redemption”

1 Corinthians 1:30 ESV

There is a popular notion that the voice of the people is the voice of God. This notion bends the truth of God’s word and relegates it to the level of popular opinions.

As believers, we understand that personal opinion does not define the word of God. What God says about a thing is what it is regardless of what the majority may believe. For example, the popular opinion being ‘blessed’ is not God’s definition.

Yesterday, we learnt that God’s opinion about a blessed man is a man who is in Christ. To add to what we learnt yesterday, the man in Christ is one who is always in the Spirit and walks in the same (Romans 8:1,9). He is the man whose sins are forgiven. There is no record of sin against him. (Jeremiah 31:34b, Romans 4:6). His nature is the nature of God (Ezekiel 36:26-27). He has the ability to live above sin because of the nature in him. This is God’s design and His definition of blessedness.

In 2 Corinthians 5:17-19, Paul further explains the reality of the man in Christ and how that his past is non-existent because of the newness of life he received in Christ at salvation. He is also given the privilege to stand in the place of Christ, passing on the message of life to many others (2 Corinthians 5:20)

Dear believer, we have been called to this life of blessedness. There is nothing higher or greater than to be in Christ. It is God’s plan for humanity.

Bible Reading Plan:

Luke 23:26-31, Hebrews 9:11-28, Proverbs 26:1-16, Isaiah 42-43
