BE STRONG IN THE LORD

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” – Ephesians 6:10 (NKJV)

Imagine standing on a battlefield without any weapon, surrounded by enemies, outnumbered and powerless. That’s what it looks like when you face life’s struggles in your own strength. Sadly, many believers live this way, forgetting they have access to God’s unlimited power.

Paul reminded the Ephesian church that the Christian life is not a playground but a battlefield. Before speaking about the armour of God in Ephesians 6, he gave this crucial instruction in verse 10: “Be strong in the Lord.” This is the foundation of victory.

Notice Paul did not say, “Be strong in your wisdom, experience, or holiness.” Human strength is unreliable, but God’s strength never fails. As in Zechariah 4:6, the Lord declares to us “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit”. Without Christ, you can do nothing (John 15:5). But with Him, you can face and overcome every adversary.

Paul adds, “…and in the power of His might.” This points you to the same power that raised Jesus from the dead (Ephesians 1:19–20). God makes this strength available to you daily through His Spirit.

Like David, you may sometimes face giants that seem impossible. But victory comes when you, too, declare: “I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts” (1 Samuel 17:45). That power is yours today through prayer, the Word, worship, and fellowship with other believers (Isaiah 40:31; Matthew 4:4; Psalm 22:3; Hebrews 10:25).

To “be strong in the Lord” is not a one-time act but a daily choice. Just as soldiers train continually, you must regularly draw strength from God. Without His strength, even the best armour cannot help you stand. But when you are rooted in Christ, you will not only stand, you will live victoriously.

Being strong in the Lord means standing firm when the world pressures you to compromise, choosing righteousness when temptation calls, and shining light in dark places.

Paul testified, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). This is not about self-confidence but Christ-confidence.Beloved, the call is clear: Be strong in the Lord, not in yourself, not in the approval of others, but in the might of Almighty God.
