ARE SPIRITUAL GIFTS FOR ALL BELIEVERS?

“And it shall come to pass afterwards, that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.” — Joel 2:28-29 (NKJV)

Have you ever wondered if you could heal the sick or prophesy? Maybe you’ve read about the miracles of the apostles or watched your pastor cast out demons and wondered, “Could this be me?” It’s easy to assume that spiritual gifts are reserved for a select few, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

From the very beginning, God made His intentions clear. Through the prophet Joel, He declared that His Spirit would be poured out on all flesh—not just a chosen few, but everyone who believes in Christ (Joel 2:28-29). This prophecy was fulfilled on the day of Pentecost when the believers in the upper room spoke in tongues and prophesied, demonstrating that the gifts of the Spirit were now accessible to all who received Him.

Jesus reinforced this truth when He said that those who believe in Him would do the works He did—and even greater (John 14:12). That means miracles, healings, and authority over demons weren’t exclusive to the apostles or a handful of great men of God; they were meant for all who believe (Mark 16:17). When the seventy disciples returned, amazed that demons were subject to them in His name, Jesus wasn’t surprised. Instead, He affirmed their authority and reminded them of their power in Him (Luke 10:17-19).

You are meant to walk in spiritual gifts! Apostle Paul made this clear when he addressed the church in Corinth. He didn’t limit his words to pastors or leaders—he spoke to the entire church, urging everyone to desire spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 14:1). If these gifts were only for a select few, why would he encourage all believers to pursue them? The reason is simple: every believer has access to the supernatural workings of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:7). Though each person may operate in different gifts, they all come from the same Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:4-7). That means the same Spirit at work in great ministers today is the same Spirit living in you. You are not lacking!

Dear believer, if you’ve ever questioned whether spiritual gifts are for you, the answer is clear—yes! God has made His power available to all who believe, including you. So, desire spiritual gifts. Stir up what’s already inside you (2 Timothy 1:6). Yield to the Holy Spirit, and let His power be fully expressed in your life. There’s more inside you than you know!
