ACTIVE PARTICIPANT

“Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.” Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When a baby is born, they are not expected to do tasks immediately, they are left to grow and understand basic things first. Later on, their parents begin to entrust them with small tasks as they grow older. This can be likened to the growth of every believer in the body of Christ.

“Children are the responsibility of the kingdom, while sons are responsible for the kingdom.” You must realise that you have a role to play in the Body of Christ as you progress in your walk with God. (Ephesians 4:16).

After receiving the life of Christ, the next step is to be planted in a Bible-believing church. As you grow in your walk with God, a time comes when you can no longer remain a spectator, but become an active participant in your local assembly. Do not just stop at being a faithful churchgoer, instead find ways to participate.

For example, you can join the workforce, and contribute to the ongoing work. Use the gifts God has given you to serve in some capacity. Do not settle for the barest minimum; you have been saved to do good work. (Ephesians 2:10). The work of ministry is for every member of the church. You should look for avenues to participate in what God is doing in your day through your local church.

Jesus said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.” (Matthew 9:37). People are the harvest, the lost souls waiting to be saved and brought into God’s kingdom. Souls are perishing for lack of knowledge, and we must spread the fragrance of the knowledge of Christ wherever we go. (2 Corinthians 2:14).

We should be ready to do the work; preach the gospel to souls, and push the agenda of God’s kingdom, individually and collectively through the ministry of our local assembly. Understanding God’s plan for every believer should lead you to be an active part of God’s move.

In the mission to make Christ known, it is important to partner with our local assembly in any capacity possible. It is either you are sold out for the cause of the gospel or not. So do not be a spectator, be committed to playing a role in God’s agenda through your local church.

DO THIS: Pray and then consider the service units in your church. Decide on a unit you want to join based on your skills and gifts and take active steps to join and be a part of it.
