“Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.” Psalm 55:22 NLT
Some of us have been in that place where we felt like God was far away in a difficult season of life and started to question our convictions about God’s love. Life seems too dark and heavy and you might feel lost. In these seasons, we must hold the truth of word of God above our feelings.
In Psalms 23, a chapter we all know and recite, the Psalmist writes about his experience with God in various seasons. In verse 1-3, he talks about the Lord as his shepherd, causing him to lie down in green pastures and we usually relate very well to the rosy experiences. It is not hard to see God in the good times.
However, David goes on in Psalm 23: 4 to say that God is with him even when he is walking through the valley of the shadow of death. The valley of the shadow of death represents dark seasons, seasons of hardship, suffering, loss and pain but we see David maintaining his conviction that God is with Him.
Having difficult seasons is not strange, but we have a strong comfort and assurance that God is right there with us (Isaiah 43:2). This is why we don’t entertain fear, just like David said, “I will fear no evil: for thou art with me…” (Psalm 23:4). This ought to give you all the confidence in the world because it means God is right there with you even in the midst of trouble. He is with you always! (Matthew 28:20).
Are you worried about anything in particular? Do you find yourself getting restless because of the unresolved issues in your life? Do you fear for your future? God cares for you. Let that sink in.
Why not give Him your worries in prayer? Give Him the situation and let Him work it out. Cast all your concerns on Him. What worries and fears do you have? In your prayers, release them and give them to God and receive prevailing peace (John 14:27). As you pray, you receive strength by God’s Spirit to face whatever is before you (Isaiah 40:31).
Furthermore, in prayer, you can receive instructions about what to do regarding worrying situations. In Exodus 4:14, Moses expressed concern about his slow speech and how he would address Pharaoh. He believed himself to be unfit for the position, but our God gave him the tools he needed and granted Him success.
You can rely on Him to meet your needs and to guide, protect, and lead you. The truth is that you serve a God who anticipates your needs before you even mention them to Him. Instead of stressing, say a quick prayer of thanks to Him today.
