“Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.” Luke 24:49 (NKJV).
Miracles and supernatural manifestations are core to believers’ camp meetings. It is wise not to attend such meetings casually. It doesn’t matter if you’re on-site or joining online; it’s the same power at work. What determines what you receive from these meetings is your level of preparation. In this special season of devotion, how ready are you for all God has in store for you?
Today’s anchor text highlights one of Jesus’ final instructions before He ascended to Heaven. In Mark 16:15, He commanded them to go and preach the gospel to every creature. But no man can do the work of God successfully without the power of God. So, He told them to ‘tarry’ in Jerusalem till they were endued with power—the same power that would enable them for effective ministry.
In expectation of the fulfilment of the promise of the Father, the 120 tarried in prayer for about ten days (see Acts 1:14), preparing themselves for the move of God in and through them. Guess what? They all received the gift of utterance on the day of Pentecost and no one was left out (see Acts 2:4).
In addition to prayer, we are to have an expectant faith. Expectant faith actively lays hold of the promises of God. In Acts 14:8-10, while Apostle Paul was preaching in Lystra, there was a lame man seated in the meeting. As Paul spoke, he noticed the lame man and saw that he had faith to be healed. The lame man was not passively sitting in a corner, waiting for something to happen. He heard the word; faith was stirred in his heart, and he was ready to receive his miracle.
Indeed, he received his miracle!God is able and willing to do what He has promised. In the Gospels, no one who came to Jesus for a miracle came back the same. Your level of readiness is what will determine how much you receive from the different sessions. It’s not too late to get in shape. Join the prayers, join the fast, fill your mind with God’s word, and come expectant in faith. You’re next in line for a miracle, and you will testify.
Say this: None of my expectations in this special season of devotion will go unfulfilled. As I get ready, I open my heart to receive all that God has prepared for me.
