“And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.”
Ephesians 2:6 NIV
Have you ever watched a football tournament and noticed that even though some members of a team did not appear in a single match, they are still given a medal if the team wins the competition? This is simply because these players identify with the team. In the same way, anyone who believes in the finished works of Christ died and is resurrected with Him even though they did not go through the sufferings of the cross with Jesus!
Romans 6:4 (AMPC) says, “we were buried therefore with Him by the baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious [power] of the Father, so we too might [habitually] live and behave in the newness of life.” This baptism is identification. We identify with Christ when we believe in the gospel.
Following His resurrection, God sat Jesus at His right hand (Ephesians 1:20-22). Right-hand does not refer to God’s right-hand side, but rather to a position of power. Christ is elevated far above every authority and principality. Thus, the name of Jesus is exalted above all other names (Philippians 2:9-11). And when He sat, we were seated with Him.
Christ has granted the church access to His authority over powers and principalities (Ephesians 1:22). We, therefore, share the same power, authority, and control over demons, diseases, and principalities. We can now use Jesus Christ’s authority to cast out evil spirits and cure illnesses.
This is who the believer is. Just like the analogy, we didn’t have to do anything to get this authority. We only accept the gospel, and we share Christ’s dominion over the powers of the devil. God be praised! The enemy’s handiwork is now under our feet, and because of Christ, we have victory. Let this be your consciousness throughout this week.
CONFESSION:
I reckon that all Jesus did, He did in my place
When He died, I died
When He rose, I rose
When He sat, I sat
I am seated in Him, far above principalities and powers
I have dominion and authority over the devil and his devices
The power of God is available unto me
I reign in life through this power.
