“So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” Colossians 3:23 NLT

As believers, we are Christ’s representative in this world and should live for the glory of God. One of our biggest motivations and indeed satisfaction is that we are serving and pleasing the Lord, but this should not only be on days of church activities.

Some people have attained native proficiency in “Christenese”, knowing how to speak and respond as followers of Christ in public. While this is not bad, it must not stop at words alone, we must also live out the faith we profess. Always remember your purpose in life is to serve God and bring glory to His name.

You are God’s child and you carry His Spirit so all of your actions should point to His marvellous mercies (John 1:12, Colossians 3:17). It can be easy to think all you have is a product of your hard work, but it is all a gift, and you can’t boast about any of it. It is all for the glory of God. Apostle Paul put it this way,

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8 -9 (NIV)

How can you live for yourself when you have received something as mighty as the life of Christ? How can your actions not show for whom you belong? How can you live on your own terms?

These are questions that should provoke an inner reflection. Living for God’s glory is the crux of your faith. Every aspect of your life should point to God, how you do your secular work, relate to people, spend money, everything. Most importantly, you live for God’s glory by consistently preaching the Gospel, seeking ways to reconcile men to God.

“And all this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him.” 2 Corinthians 5:18 (NLT)

Dear believer, you cannot say you live for God only in your words. There has to be evidence. As you step out of the house commuting to work, in your interaction with people, as you go about your business, ask yourself this question: Am I living for the glory of God?

PRAYER: Lord, I live for you alone. All that I am and all that I do is for the glory of God.
