“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” – Mark 16:15 (NKJV)
A trademark can be any word, phrase, symbol, or design, that identifies goods or services. This means that companies invest a lot in creating a unique identity such that wherever their product is placed, it can easily be traced back to its producer. If a trademark has goodwill, the producer benefits from it; if it consistently receives negative feedback, the producer equally takes a fall for it.
A believer has a trademark – Jesus. Once you become born again, Jesus becomes your new identity and identifier. Just as trademarks are used to represent companies, Christians must represent Christ to a world that desperately needs Him. Our calling is to spread the fame of Jesus, making His name known in every corner of the earth. This is the bedrock of evangelism.
However, to effectively evangelise Christ and share His message of reconciliation with the world, it is essential to be deeply rooted in God’s word. We must not only communicate the message but also establish ourselves in the truth of God’s word. Our growth comes through both knowing Him and making Him known.
Furthermore, evangelism extends beyond mere words; it is a lifestyle. It encompasses not only what we say but how we live every day. When you understand who you are in Christ, you realise you carry God’s presence wherever you go. Consequently, your workplace becomes your mission field, and your neighbourhood transforms into your territory for kingdom expansion.
Evangelism isn’t about eloquence, but influence. It’s about letting Christ’s light in you shine so others notice. While preaching is key, contributing to the ministry of reconciliation also matters. As 2 Corinthians 5:18 says, God entrusted this to us, and through our faithfulness, others find Christ. Your words, actions, and testimony—no matter how small—plant seeds that draw people closer to Jesus, leading to salvation with eternal impact.
Result-oriented evangelism is rooted in compassion. Without compassion for the souls you’re reaching, your efforts become empty rituals. Throughout scripture, Jesus was always moved by compassion before healing or raising the dead (Mark 1:40-41, Matthew 14:14-21, Mark 5:19). Evangelism also keeps your spiritual life active; much like a car needs regular driving to stay in good condition. As Hebrews 5:14 notes, “But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” So, through active service and consistent evangelism, our walk with God is strengthened.
As the body of Christ grows, every believer plays a part in advancing the gospel (Ephesians 4:16). Evangelism not only fulfils the Great Commission but also strengthens our faith and unity.
As we share Jesus’ message, we become vessels of God’s grace, refreshed and renewed in Him.
