TAKE ACTION
“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” – Galatians 6:9 (NKJV)
If you have ever tried to learn a skill, you would realise that irregular practice is unproductive. If you truly want to see progress in any skill, you must commit to learning and doing it regularly. This principle applies to all areas of life.
As you proceed in the new year, you must back every goal set with consistent effort. Let consistency be your top priority for you to do all God has instructed you. No matter how hard or futile it seems, keep showing up. You may face challenges that make it difficult to remain steadfast in taking action toward your goals, but you are not without help—you can realign your focus by spending time in prayer and with the Word (Proverbs 24:16).
Once you understand the direction of the plan of God for your life, you must pursue it doggedly. Live every day with a purpose in mind, and this would entail doing the same things over and over again. It may seem slow to keep up with little or no results, but consistency takes patience and will always yield great results.
In embracing consistency, it is essential to recognize that you can only fulfil God’s agenda for your life in partnership with Him. When your strength wanes, rely on the Holy Spirit for strength (Zechariah 4:6). Develop the habit of daily prayer and study of the Word, total dependence on God is needed to accomplish His plans for you.
Another way is to write out your goals and set up an accountability structure for yourself. Ensure to regularly review your goals and see that progress is being made each day. Create a structured daily routine that prioritizes your goals and focuses on completing one task at a time to avoid distractions.
In a bid to be accountable, surround yourself with the right community of people with whom you can share your goals. Ensure you rub minds together and be inspired by each other’s plans, then strategize ways to help each other grow (Hebrews 10:24-25).
Meditate on God’s promises when facing delays or challenges and believe that all things work together for good (Romans 8:28).
Keep a journal to record answered prayers and moments of progress, no matter how small. Finally, trust God in your process, consistency requires patience and trust in God’s timing.
