Day 20 (Genesis 46-48, Matthew 14:13-36)

In Genesis 46-48, we see the story of Goshen, a place that symbolises God’s favour and provision. Jacob and his family leave Canaan during a time of famine and move to Egypt. Pharaoh gives them Goshen—the best land in Egypt, ensuring that they have everything they need to thrive. What stands out is how God went ahead of them to prepare a place of blessing, even in a foreign land. This shows that God’s provision is never limited by location or circumstances.

In Matthew 14:13-36, there’s another powerful display of God’s provision and sustenance. Jesus takes five loaves and two fish, blesses them, and miraculously feeds thousands. The lesson is clear: God can multiply what seems little and make it more than enough. His resources never run out.

Later, when Peter steps out of the boat to walk on water, we see another side of God’s provision—He doesn’t just meet material needs but also sustains us through faith. Peter was able to walk on water as long as he kept his eyes on Jesus. The moment he got distracted by the storm, he started to sink. It’s a reminder that keeping our focus on God is key to walking through challenges.

These stories reveal that God provides in unexpected ways and sustains His children through every season. Whether it’s through fertile land, multiplying resources, or giving strength to walk on water, His presence and provision never fails.

Confession: I trust in God’s unfailing provision. He goes before me, prepares a place of blessing, and sustains me in every season.

13 When Jesus heard it, He departed from there by boat to a deserted place by Himself. But when the multitudes heard it, they followed Him on foot from the cities.

14 And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.

15 When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food.”
